Wendy Thompson, the dynamic general manager for Telemundo 64, the local affiliate of the Spanish-language television network, arrived in the USA at age 21. She graduated from Montgomery College, where the mission statement begins, “we are in the business of changing lives.” Her next step was a business degree from the University of Maryland and the rest is history.

Through her activities, Discovery Creek was able to provide environmental science opportunities to children and families and expand to Glen Echo Park.

Dr. Nunley was the first woman president of Montgomery College (Maryland). She championed programs that mentor and encourage women to extend their boundaries. By serving on many state and local councils and boards, she built support in the business and general community. She is a strong advocate for affordable, accessible, quality higher education.

Liz Lerman, choreographer, performer, writer, educator, and speaker, founded Dance Exchange in 1976, cultivating the company’s unique multi-generational ensemble, with dancers whose ages span five decades, into a leading force in contemporary dance. In 2002 her work was recognized with a MacArthur “Genius Grant” Fellowship.
